As I mentioned, one of my favorite things this year was a do-it-yourself sugar scrub. This stuff is a life-saver for your skin. It’s so moisturizing that you won’t even need lotion when you use it. The best part is, you can make it for a reasonable price for yourself and all of your friends. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
What you’ll need:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 10-15 drops essential oil
- 2 – 1/2 pint jars
This is enough to make 1 pint of sugar scrub.
Start by pouring 1 cup of sugar into a large bowl.
Next, I found it easier to microwave the coconut oil until it’s liquid. Then measure 1/2 cup of coconut oil.
Pour the coconut oil into the sugar and stir to combine. Add 10-15 drops of whatever essential oil you choose.
Stir until it’s thoroughly combined.
Next, prepare your jars. I made these printables that I hot glued onto the top of the jar lid.
Then I made some homemade bakers twine to tie around the jars since I was giving them away as Christmas gifts. It’s really easy and you can make whatever color you want since bakers twine typically only comes in red. Or if you can find other colors, they’re highly overpriced.
- white #10 crochet cotton thread
- sharpie in whatever color you want
Wrap the thread around the ruler, making sure not to overlap the string and hold it tightly with your fingers (you can use tape if you want). Using your sharpie, mark think lines evenly on both sides of the ruler.
You’ll have your own bakers twine to use for gifts or mason jar drinks!
Wrap the bakers twin around the jar and you’re ready to gift!
