menu recap & cookbook club [weeks 25 & 26]

Last week was a pretty busy week for us so there wasn’t much cooking going on. Just some old stand-bys and nothing so delicious I felt I needed to write about. We did have dinner at McGill’s on Friday and I had the pasta lobster for the first time and it was lifechanging. I highly recommend it! And we had dinner club on Saturday and Jessica made these ridiculous¬†fish tacos with a creamy spicy sauce. I’m going to stalk her for the recipe to share with you, so stay tuned!

This week has also been kinda busy, I guess that’s summer for ya. I did make it out of the leftover-jail a couple of times this week.

Tuesday we celebrated Alisha’s birthday with dinner at PF Chang’s. I had the fried rice, generic I know, but SO good.

And Thursday I hosted our first ever COOKBOOK CLUB. I totally stole this idea from my wedding caterer and started my own. We chose the new Pioneer Woman’s cookbook, Food from My Frontier, as our book of choice for the year. We will meet every two months and within the next 12 months we will have tried the majority of the recipes from the cookbook. During the “meetings” we share any notes or tips we noted while making the recipe. If you’re interested in our “notes” email me and I’ll send them to you!We had a nice variety of food and everything was delicious: salsa, twice baked potatoes, caprese salad, whiskey-mustard meatballs, classic chicken salad, summer stir-fry and knock-you-naked brownies for dessert.

Start your own cookbook club by gathering your favorite friends who like to cook, pick a cookbook and start your cooking engines. So much fun and who doesn’t love great food cooked by someone else?

Here is a note template if you want to print some for your first cookbook club gathering!

I love your idea of the “Cookbook Club”- so cute! When I was in Tulsa, we had a group who did monthly “Pinterest Parties” where whoever was hosting it would decide the theme (Italian, Mexican, etc.) and be in charge of the main dish. The rest would pick appetizers, sides and desserts. It was so much fun and a great way to try all the fun recipes we find on Pinterest. : )
